History of Container Relocations

The Container Relocations Story … So Far

Container Relocations, a key player in New Zealand’s logistics sector, began in 2000 as You Load n Tow Limited, a trailer rental business in Christchurch. Initially offering trailer rentals, the company evolved into Uload Removals, specialising in self-load inter-island relocations with shipping containers. As demand for flexible moving solutions grew, the company expanded its services to include loading and unloading, eventually rebranding as Container Relocations. This rebranding made it the first New Zealand household removals company to use coastal shipping and containers for cost-effective moves.

Under Hugh Sowman, who managed everything from customer service to operations, Container Relocations partnered with Mark Pedersen of Searoad Logistics, ensuring precise relocations. In 2009, Mark acquired the business as Hugh relocated to the Hawkes Bay. With three decades of experience, Mark led the company through significant growth, opening new branches in Dunedin, Wellington, Palmerston North, and Hawkes Bay. Nick Scanlan joined in 2011 and became a director in 2016, bringing over 30 years of logistics expertise.

The company expanded into show and event logistics in 2017 with Pinnacle Event Logistics Limited. Investments in modern fleet additions, including custom-built container trucks and high-capacity vans, improved efficiency. In 2024, it celebrated its 14,000th relocation and achieved a 4.8-star Google rating. Committed to sustainability, the company offers eco-friendly moving options. Today, with its fleet of nearly 200 containers, Container Relocations continues to grow, innovate, and provide exceptional service.
