Event Logistics in Australia: Touring Madagascar
The summer of 2023 marked our company’s successful debut in project management for touring events in Australia with “Madagascar the Musical.” Our team expertly managed the logistics, beginning with the export of the entire show from New Zealand to Australia in four 40ft containers. Upon arrival, we efficiently navigated the customs clearance process, demonstrating our proficiency in international logistics. Our Logistics Manager, Mark, personally assisted with the cross-loading of the show from shipping line containers into domestic containers, ensuring a seamless transition.
The Australian tour commenced at The Coliseum Theatre in Sydney, followed by performances at The Comedy Theatre in Melbourne. The most significant logistical challenge was the 3,400km journey to The Crown Theatre in Perth within 72 hours. To accomplish this feat, we employed two “road trains,” each carrying two 40ft containers, allowing us to transport the entire show across the continent efficiently. Despite the tour running through the Christmas and New Year holiday season, our team remained committed to excellence, with a representative present at every load and unload.
Throughout the entire tour, we achieved a remarkable 100% on-time and on-budget delivery record, a testament to our reliability in the fast-paced world of show business. This successful venture into project management for touring events in Australia demonstrates our team’s expertise in handling complex logistics across vast distances and during challenging periods.
